Harrison Okene is a Nigerian cook who gained international attention in 2013 after surviving for nearly three days in an air pocket inside a sunken ship. On May 26, 2013, the tugboat he was working on, Jascon-4, capsized and sank off the coast of Nigeria due to heavy ocean swells. The other 11 crew members unfortunately lost their lives in the incident. Okene managed to find his way into an air pocket within the upturned vessel and remained there for approximately 60 hours before being rescued. A team of divers, who were initially searching for bodies, discovered him and were able to bring him to safety on May 28, 2013.
